Scholes Cricket Club First Team v Golcar on Sat 11 Jul 2015 at 13:30
Scholes Cricket Club Won 6 Points

Match report Scholes (303 for 9) beat Golcar (181 all out) by 124 runs
This convincing win against Cobba et al keeps Hoylandswaine at bay for the moment, and was an efficient performance against a talented team somehow underperforming this year.
Scholes' 303 was all about Joe Carter's muscley 119 - he gave it away in the 42nd over when he could have gone on to a huge score - and Bruiser's crunching 71, ensuring the requisite acceleration took us over the 300 mark, always a formidable chase even at Chapelgate. Third change Ruscoe was easily the best of the visitors attack with his 4 for 45.
Golcar were never in the hunt, especially once Louis Brook castled Cobba for 28.
Woodhead top scored at number 8 with 38, and Josh Brook cashed in to the tune of 5 for 28 as the tail end played some shots, and Golcar perished for a poor 181 in the 36th over.
Down at Honley the Second XI secured a brilliant 89 run victory to move within one point of the top of the Premiership 2. There were six significant contributions with the bat, led by the talented Jordan Saville's 52 and the wily old veteran Ash Pamment's 53, as Scholes racked up an impressive 241 for 7.Scholes kept it tight with the ball, fielded like tigers and the pressure told on the league leaders as wickets fell regularly. Nobody made the big score required as Honley fell well short on 151 all out, as Jack Atkinson took a commendable 4 for 38.
The following day saw the Paddock Shield semi final take place at the same venue between the same two teams...but unfortunately for Scholes II's the result could not have been further removed from the previous days cricket.
Scholes batted first again but this time only four players reached double figures with Pamment's 48 easily the top score. Honley bowled and fielded well, but Scholes seemed strangely lacklustre, and never really got over losing Saville early on to a daft run out. They scrambled up to 155 all out, but against a fine Second XI like Honley this never looked likely to be enough, and sure enough a solid team effort saw Honley home in the 41st over, with Archie Moore anchoring the innings with a barnacle like unbeaten 45 as Honley cantered to a six wicket win.
