Skelmanthorpe v Scholes Cricket Club First Team on Sat 20 Jun 2015 at 13:00
Scholes Cricket Club Won 6 Points
Match report
Skelmanthorpe (125 all out) lost to Scholes (189 all out) by 64 runs
This certainly wasn't your usual Shat road, with a definite tinge of green especially at the wicket ends.....odd really. But Mr Cricket Pete Drysdale recognised this wasn't going to be another run fest, and dug in for the duration...and thank gawd he did as his 53 ground out over 40 overs proved the difference between the two teams. Bruiser made a fluent 25 and the best number 7 in the business James Noble's 31 was also crucial in getting Scholes up to 189, not to mention Louis Brook's hitting at the end...ignore the scorecard folks he got at least 16. Amjid Khan's 6 for 46 from 15 overs of skilful and accurate medium pace was an exemplary effort.
The locals thought we had enough...and they were right. Shat started well enough but once Bruiser bowled the dangerous Bjorn Taylor the high class Irfan was left stranded on 36 as the bottom 5 contributed a princely 2 runs and Shat fell away to a sorry 125 all out, Bruiser had an excellent 3 for 41 and Jonno Boult 4 for 32.
Yours truly had a mixed day..a sumptuous Irfan on drive jumped off the boundary edging to make a significant dent in my forehead much to everyone's amusement...and this vegetarian won the meat fest of a breakfast, which was quickly demolished by Karen, Leo and the dog on Sunday morning
