Scholes Cricket Club First Team v Honley on Sat 30 May 2015 at 13:00
Scholes Cricket Club Won 6 Points

Match report Scholes (215 for 8) beat Honley (211 for 9) by 2 wickets
Honley were top of the Premiership presumably by alphabetical order from Scholes as this game began, so it was game on against our near neighbours and always my favourite set of lads. Richie Howarth had left his yearly tribute to his true mate and much missed by everyone at Scholes CC Tony Marsh down by Marshy's bench, and the Honley lads were amongst the last to leave after a riotous night in the clubhouse celebrating Tommy Cockles 21st birthday.
It was a fab game of cricket too.
Important toss, for it was doing loads when Honley batted first, enough for the normally recalcitrant Bubbles to remark on it, and Cockles at first slip to say "Bruiser was making it talk". Si Kelly found it tough against the excellent Louis Brook but was merciless against Franny's odd loose ball, and it was relief to all Scholeser's when he holed out to Drysdale's safe hands at mid off having just reached his half century. Tim Sykes (21) hung around for a while, but we quickly reduced Honley to 120 for 6, and were looking to chase maybe 170, especially with Martin Green, bogey man, absent. But Danny Howard rivals James Noble for the best number 7 in the Premiership, and his 38 combined with a super 25 from youngster Tommy Woodhead got the visitors up to 211 for 9, very competitive indeed I thought. Too many I thought actually.
We got our customary poor start, but Joe Carter changed the game in a jiffy, hitting five 6's in his blink of an eye 34 ball 71, but got carried away and a huge leading edge off Richie was caught at deep cover, and when Drysdale perished soon after we were in trouble. But Toby Booth dug in for 31, Bruiser was calmness personified for his invaluable 24, and Noble won the battle of the number 7's with his match winning 42. Bubbles won it with 4.....guess where...backward point.....as we had threatened to throw it away...and it was a fab win to keep us of of the table
