Match report What a game - A TIE!!!

Once again i won the toss and elected to bat, we lost a couple of early wickets finding ourselves at 32-2. However a nice partnership developed between myself (43)and Jordan Saville(50)to take the score on to 104-2 from 31 overs. This would seem to be a great platform to get above a score of 200, which would be a very hard score to chase down at Honley. However the wickets of myself and Jordan fell in quick succession and caused a bit of a collapse down the order - which finished with the wicket of Ade Dickinson 'plumb' L.B.W - 150 All Out.

Honley have a very strong top order, with 4 out of the top 5 ex-first team players - so these wickets were prioritized in my team talk. Jordan Saville did great to dismiss 3 off them for a combined total of 20 - on the way to picking up figures of 4-26 off his allotted 12 overs. However the key wicket was of Simon England, who was sent back attempting a second run only to be run out from the boundary by Ash Senior. Wickets fell at regular intervals after that with only Cawtheray(26)scoring many runs. Needed 15 for victory, with 3 wickets in hand you would have to put Honley in the driving seat however 2 wickets in an over from myself soon changed this - and 14 were needed by the last pair. The ball was edged and chipped around, rather frustratingly to Dickinson stood in the slips who remarked that it was 'embarrassing how lucky they were'. A tough caught and bowled chance was put down by Eden Pearson, and another tough chance went to Craig Marsh - who did well to get hands to it, which stopped the batters getting the crucial winning run. Scores were level, with 3 overs left - 1 wicket needed for the tie. With all the fielders in Kaye tried to win the game with a huge swing off Guy Pearsons bowling, however missed the ball which carried on to crash into his stumps. The game was tied.

I haven't played in so many matches better than this one, my first tied game that iv been involved in. There were so many twists and turns, and credit to my boys for sticking to the task when it looked like a defeat was on the cards. After defending 150, this tie certainly seemed like a win. PNF Man of the Match was won by Jordan Saville for his great all round display - 50 runs and 4-26. Hopefully he'll shake of his #Regent hangover by tomorrow's huge Paddock Shield clash with Skelmanthrope.
