Another bitterly cold day in this most glacial start to a season I can remember saw this game finally staggering to a delayed start mid afternoon. We were all still at Scholes watching the Seconds and doubting it'd ever start at soggy Swallow Lane. But it did, and I am reliably informed we got it wrong, playing too many big shots on a turgid turner, with the honourable exceptions of Tom MacRury, caught brilliantly by Cobba at leg slip, and young Cleggy, whose mature 19 was easily the top score in this match, a proper cricketer indeed. Golcar's new Sri Lankan speedster Bandara was decidedly slippery and Will Hinchliffe exploited the conditions well as they both took four wickets, 100 all out looked a very average score indeed.
But as usual what do we glass half empty merchants know....sfa actually. Golcar were blown away by an excellent bowling and fielding performance, led by Louis Brook's 4 for 23. Nobody reached double figures, every catch was taken, and Callum Hill was rapier sharp behind the sticks. Truth is Golcar batted poorly and were blown away for a paltry 52...nuff said.
