Match report A day to forget for Scholes...

With neither myself or the Barkisland (Coleman) captain knowing what to do at the toss, I was quite happy when I lost it - forcing them to make them to make the decision to bat first. After 50 overs I was wishing I'd had won the toss...

Barkisland batted first and grafted through probably the best bowling spell I have ever bowled - 6 shouts for L.B.W, all of them with the same decision from umpire Dickinson - NOT OUT. All the decisions were fair enough, close calls, he had to give the benefit of the doubt to the batsmen. I would have reviewed everyone if we had the technology available. After the spell of early pressure not a thing went our way, a couple of drop catches and some bad bowling hindered our progress in this game. Whiteoak went on to make a very lusty 99, including 9 maximums. Dawson played second fiddle, notching up a scrappy 52 as Barksland put a score of 299.

The pitch did next to nothing in the first innings, however a few demons appeared at the start of our innings - 2 balls popping off a length in the first 3 overs - It was to be a tricky chase. The chase never really got going at all as Cooper was dismissed in the second over, and I followed shortly to a 'bump ball' that the umpires failed to spot! Wickets fell at regular intervals, as we slumped to 117 all out. Only Boorman (35) and Coleman (20) came away with any plaudits.

A poor display in the field and bowling gave us a task that was far beyond us. 200 was a par score on the track! We'll bounce back #bouncebackability
