Scholes Cricket Club First Team v Barkisland on Mon 26 May 2014 at 1:30pm
Scholes Cricket Club Won 6 points

Match report Another fine and dandy 6 point win saw us go top of the premiership by one point as Shepley could only manage a 5 point haul at Slawit.
It was just great to get a game in after the weekend deluge wiped out the top of the table battle at Shepley and all other cricket costing us and all other clubs no doubt an absolute fortune.
Barkisland were asked to bat and as usual Bruiser and Ned Brook were immediately on the button, and the pressure began to tell on the usually free scoring Barkisland first three. Once Kaye went for 10 and the dangerous Schofield (17) and big hitting Summerscales (3) were both done for by the excellent Louis Brook the visitors crumpled to 68 for 7. Pete Drysdale's off spin looked increasingly menacing and his arm ball especially impressed the evergreen Bubbles behind the sticks. In the old timer stalls in the clubhouse Eddie Parkin and Tony the weatherman were reduced to discussing how their libido has suddenly returned as they get older....especially impressive as we were all led to believe Eddie has passed away during the long winter and jaws dropped as he turned up at the start of the season. Outside the always impressive Robinson made 46 and added 85 for the 8th wicket with the excellent Matthew Steers (41), but as they tried to smash their way to 150 to get a point in the last few overs Barkisland fell away to 138 all out with Tom Brook and Drysdale sharing 8 wickets between them, as the skipper bowled through yet again for a very fine 4 for 65.
Tales were flying around of various games being off for rain as Scholes began their reply, including hilariously at Hoylandswaine who had declared on 500 for 1 against Shelley. The gloom was a gathering for sure but the calm and unflappable Drysdale judged it perfectly in the light drizzle for the last few minutes for his 76*, and Max Berry's assured 34 as opener was a very nice revelation indeed as Scholes won by 9 wickets in the 31st over. Well done to the umpires too for some common sense in getting the game finished.
